My younger brother pointed me to this site (he recently reunited with a girl he knew from MHS) Anyway, I live in Cali now and just wondering if anyone was out there that I might know or remember.
There are lots of 91 grads registered to the site if you check out the member list. I don't know if any are active, but they're here. :) You may have known my sister Erin Vaughan, class of 90...
My sister Holly Lakin graduated in 91.
Among several grads who were pregnant at the time, she was the only one who received her diploma 8 months along :-)
She's doing well in Virginia with my 14 year old (ugh) niece.
My sister was also pregnant that year!! She had my 14 year old nephew in January and I remember an English teacher used to come to our house to tutor her while she was out on maternity leave. Darn, I can't remember her name..I think she had an accent??
The school actually considered not allowing my sister to attend the graduation ceremonies because she was pregnant...they claimed it set a bad example for other students and would look bad to the parents. Fortunately they lost that battle. Bastards that they are.
I was in the class of 91. I did not graduate from there though. I went to night school and received a scholarship. My name is Kelly Flanagan now Kelly Pica. :)
Yeah it was Mrs. Longshore. She tutored me as well when I was out of school for a while. Unfortunately it was not for giving birth! 8O
She was nice to me after that but I know she could be very mean at school.
I couldn't STAND Mrs. Longshore. She would pidgeonhole you into a certain grade, and keep giving you that grade no matter how much your work improved. She decided whether or not she thought you were an "A" student, or a "B" student, or a "D" student.
I had her for Honors 9, and she kept giving me Ds my first term and wouldn't tell me what was supposedly wrong with my work. Instead she handed me a slip to withdraw from her class. So I went to Mr. Cullen, (the guidance counselor) with my Mom and showed him my grammar school grades and standardized test scores that had my English and lit comprehension in the 99th percentile. He encouraged me to stay in the class and then had a talk with her. After that, my grade magically rose to a "B" without any change in the quality of work I was producing.
I remember two of her students in her college class (an "A" student and a "C" student) wrote each others papers and handed them in to see what would happen, and like clockwork they both received the same grades they always did. The "C" student got a "C," even though the "A" student wrote their paper, and the "A" student got an "A" even though the "C"s student wrote their paper. WHen they brought it up to the administration they said that it didn't matter because they hadn't TOLD Longshore they were going to do that and therefore it wasn't fair?!?!?!?!
I somehow got on her good side for Journalism and Creative writing where I got "As" across the board, but the damage was already done. She will forever be etched in my mind as one of the worst teachers I have ever had.
I'm glad somebody managed to have a positive experience with her.
Anyway...
Welcome Kelly! sorry to get all ranty after your post. :)
I graduated in 1991....I was Dawn LaPlante, then Dawn Waterworth....now Dawn Lavely.
I had Ms Longshore for English, what a freak she was. I thankfully never had her for English, I had Mr Brouder, Ms Crane, and I can't remember who else.
Ms Longshore with her British accent. She was crazy!! She used to yell at us for no reason and act like we were the devil's children. Where ever she is right now, she is being a bi^&% to someone. God bless the soul that has to listen to her!
I too am a member of the class of '91....kinda kept to myself back then.....not sure how many of ya'll would remember me......am now living with my girlfriend and her two daughters ages 7 and 10 in a little town about 30 miles from Raleigh, North Carolina. It's been a while since I've been back to Methuen, but I am enjoying life down south....hope to hear back from some of ya'll from class of '91.

Ah yes I recalled a few from Class of 91 even tho I was a 93er
Saddly most names from the school daze, apparently left me. I remember when I went to the 5 year I couldn't recall 1/2 the people that where there. since then a 10 year reunion was tried and flumped very bad because of the 3rd party event planner messed up really bad and charged too much. now it is 15 years and sadly for the most part the class I was in fell apart. I really wish someone out there has a thought of trying a 3rd time to get some together and hopefully different peeps will come as well as same ones that came in the 5 year.
"Beauty is only skin deep but ugly goes all the way to the bone."
Honestly, I wouldn't know where to begin as far as organizing the event on my own. those that did the first time around, I got messages back they are clearly just not interested anymore about any reunions. it happens, some classes stick like tar others are like ye old elmars glue after a week or 2 just gets britile and falls apart. Who knows, maybe a clear rainbow will show someday for c.o 93
