LOST

Anyone here watch it? Anyone here like myself obsessed with it?

I'm opening the flood gates.

Re: LOST

OH MY!! My husband and I LOVE it and are also obsessed! I have a co-worker who watches also and her and I talk about it every Thursday morning...I can't wait til the fall!!

Re: LOST

Same here. I love it. I'm not a big science fiction guy but this show has a lot of unique story lines.

Re: LOST

Before I went to bed last night I saw something on TV about Jin not dieing out at sea and having a bigger story line next seaon.

I hope that Michael doesn't die out there either and somehow gets Walt back. Although I have no idea how they will swim back the 15 miles to the island.

That show is the best.

Re: LOST

I guess I forgot. What's wrong with the boat? I thought it was still working fine.

Re: LOST

Ah, the "others" showed up, stole Walt, shot Sawyer who fell in the water and then Jin jumped in after him. Then Alex who is the French lady's daughter threw an explosive onto the raft that blew it up. Michael survived by jumping into the water.

Re: LOST

oh yeah. thanks.

Re: LOST

===========================================
SPOILER ALERT
I discuss many of the episodes below. If you have not watched the series and want to be surprized. Please do not read mypost.
===========================================

I watch alot of tv. I'll never live without a DVR again. Tivo has change the way I live. So I try to check out every new show around. My tivo is always full.

Some of my past favorite shows are Sopranos, OS, Carnivale, Six Feet Under, ER, All Law & Orders, OC, Nip Tuck, Shield, Rescue Me, Farscape, Stargate SG1, Stargate Atlantis, BattleStar Galactica, Deadwood.

I have to admit that Lost is my favorite show ever and that's a big deal. Deadwood is a not too distant second (get it if you can, season 2 just wrapped up, I got em both on DVD if you need em, need to watch them on a pc though). For a show like Lost to have survived on a station like ABC, who is notorious for hastily cancelling shows because they only drew 50 million viewers a week, is astounding. It quietly showed up on TV and instantly captured fans. Those fans told friends and it turned into a phenenomenon.

I've watched other news shows lately. As a matter of fact I finally got around to watching the season 2 premiere of the 4400. Bleh, it's decent. But they have not made me care about a single character or plotline, it barely holds my attention, but the wife likes it( she has not watched lost yet, but it dying too now). Watched "The Inside" this week, not bad. Some potential there. But no other new show out there has captured me like Lost did after one episode.

They gave us 24 episodes when a typical season is 12-13, thank you guys.

I think it's so far and above any other series I have seen that I have difficulty expressing it. The writing is incredible. Every episode is intense....intense. Every plotline is crisp and interesting. Even after 24 episodes we still don't know the big secrets. This bothers some, but that's the best part of the series. I can't think of any other show that has ever built like this(Battlestar galatica is succeeding to an extent). Hell, I've even been known to tear up a few times. Yeah, I said it!! C'mon, when Jin swallowed his pride and began helping to rebuild the ship or when his wife wrote down the english words for him to help on the trip. And don't even mention Boone. Priceless stuff.

Rumors and theories abound. Aliens? Goverment experiment? Purgatory? Solipsism? Who knows. Nothing fits perfectly, but there is carefully placed evidense to support each and every theory. God, it's well written.

The cast is good, real good. If you can look past all of the supermodels, these guys can act. I feel for each and every one of them. Screw what they say about Locke being the savior of everyone. When it comes time to introduce a bad guy, mark my words. Locke will be it.

I can't even figure out of they are actually on a piece of earth in the ocean. I'm not convinced, but I believe they actually are. Which all but rules out purgatory, a theory I was leaning on for a while.

"Deserted" island in the middle of nowhere, the Others, the "Security System", the hatch, the frech lady, the numbers, the back stories, the tensions, Polar bears, cripples walking again. Wow...so much going on.

Want some spoilers for next season to chew on? Michelle Rodriguez is joining the cast. We know from the season finale that she was on the back of the plane. We can only speculate that she is still alive. Remember what Boone heard on the radio before his plunge? "Hello!?! we are the survivors of flight 787(close enough)". You know where this is also leading? The black ladies husband, that she swears is still alive will also show up. Should be interesting. I think Samual Jackson is getting that part, seriously. So there is crew elsewhere on the island, though I have difficulty swallowing that, since the front of the plane landed on the shore. How could the tail have gotten any futherer along than the front? Perhaps the boys on the boat get to them on another island? Hmm.

The Other's have attempted to steal 3 children that we know of? What's up with that? These guys living under ground?

The "Security System", designed to kill or to test the worthy? What exactly is it? What was the probe that flew by, spotted the crew and then summoned all hell? What is the monster exactly? We could hear machinery, I've heard rumors of a legendary sloth monster. What about that hole sucking Locke down into it? They get points for creativity man, what the hell is going on??

Where does that hatch go? Well, there are probably many of them on the island all leading to the place underground where the Others are. This will no doubt tie into the security system. Why did the boy fear the hatches opening. How can he have this knowledge (that he does not appear to always have)?

Tropical island and 2 polar bear attacks? Huh? There is a polar bear in what we think of as Walt's comic. One such reading appears to prompt the bears arrival. Explain that stuff rationally..... Though in the season finale the writers went out of their way to show you that it was Hurley that actually brought the comic on the plane. There was a reason for that, but it eludes me.

Locke, who had been in a wheelchair for a number of years, was able to spontaneously walk when he landed on the island. Tough one to swallow. Are they dead, can he walk in purgatory? Mind manipulation, was he ever not able to walk. Certainly someone that cannot walk for a number of years, even if there ability is restored, would be suffereing from such atrophy that they could not walk for quite a while until they rehab. Just a missed detail? Part of the plot?

The numbers....one of the best episodes by far. Numbers broadcast off the island, heard my mariners, drove one man crazy, he repeats the numbers constantly in an asylum. Hurley overhears them, plays them in the lottery, wins becuase of them, horrible things happen to him and becuase of the numbers, he ends up on the flight. Oh yeah, the numbers are found engraved on the hatch. We've lost cabin pressure. For those observant people, notice that the numbers, I forget them all, appear all throughout the series in subtle places. Everywhere, there is a whole site devoted to it out there. Such attention to detail by the writers, give these guys a raise.

I could go on for hours about this show. Well, I think I just did. It's that damn good.

Re: LOST

The Black lady's name is Rose. I too believe her husband will show up, always have. However, Sam Jackson has turned down whatever role was offered to him saying he doesn't want to do TV.

Boone's broadcast was responded to by survivors of flight 815, same as our castaways.

Walt is clearly "touched" from what I can tell. The other's wanted him. I think they went after Aaron and Alex mistakenly. Walt has visions and manifestations. Hell, I'd want the kid too.

There are 2 hatches that Cuckoo Locke knows of. However, he only revealed 1 to Jack & Sayid.

The writers/producers have not admitted to there being a sloth creature, but have said it is not a lie or prank. It is written on the script for a reason.

Even if when all is revealed if it's something stupid, I won't care. These 24 episodes were tight. Good enough for me.

Michelle "Girl Fight" Rodriguez... I hope that she becomes Jack's girl so that Kate doesn't dick him around. We know she'll end up with Sawyer or sleeping with him anyway. They say the next season really concentrates on the survivors setting up their own civilization. So obviously people are going to hook up. I don't look forward to it becoming Melrose Place at Sea, but they do need to have subplots in addition to the Island and the backstories to waste time before all is answered and the end comes. So naturally they will go to sex.

Hands down, best show ever. Hard for me to say but even better that SFU.

Re: LOST

Wow and I thought I was a fan. I enjoyed reading your posts. That was some cool stuff. A second hatch? Hmm I don't remember that. Anyone know why they killed off Boone? How obvious was it that they were gonna kill the high school science teacher (Actor who played Jay Leno)?

I too have believed from the beginning that Rose's husband would return. But the writer's could have changed their mind. You never know if they decided that with the shows popularity to go a alternate route.

I believe that something was done to that baby while in the womb. And what about the freak "other" guy who was killed the one who kidnapped her to begin with. I thought the way he lifted druggie boy by his neck that one time that he had super natural strength. Then he gets his ass kicked by Jack bad. And dies from a gun shot??? That's a week way for him to die.

And the French lady??? Did she bring the baby to "the others" as a way to get back her own daughter? Or was she hiding them? I am confused on that matter. Can she be trusted?

And Greta you mention sex...Why hasn't anyone had any yet? You are on an island for what now 1 -2 months. Is that right? You must believe you are doomed. Heck I'd be looking to shack up the 3rd or 4th night in. Why are there no Richard Hatch Nudists male or female? You know a lot of people like to rock that boat. I know why....Because this story doesn't need sex to sell it. YET! Once they run out of story. And I don't think it will happen to soon with all those people we haven't met yet. Once they run out of story they will try to peek the interest with sex. Just like other failing or failed shows I used to let my kids watch. (ie. Joan of Arcadia, 8 simple rules, etc.) When they do run out of stories just put the show on HBO and be done with it. Let's see Kate in all her Glory teasing Jack and ohh what's his name.

Sorry about my lack of names. I am real bad with names. In real life too.

One last thing.....WHEN IS THE FAT GUY GOING TO GET SKINNY?

Re: LOST

2 things: Hurley & Sex. (whoa is that gross? not to me)

OK, the actor who plays Hurley has lost 40 lbs since the season wrapped and plans to loose a total of at least 100 so in Season 2 so everyone's prayers will be answered.

Sex. Shannaon & Sayid did the deed my friend. But why haven't others? You have to remember these people have been through a trauma. They have been there for something like 34 days. So going through the plane crash, then realizing nobody is coming THEN realizing you are with some strange people and finally that there is a monster? First instinct is survival unless you are a nimpho. Sex will come, simmer down!

I think Boone had to die by the way to make the story seam more realistic. In all that time and weird situations, somebody has too. I mean the man was in a plane stuck in a tree, he wasn't invincable.

Also Arzt (teacher) died. Hmm, go with me on this. Did you notice he started getting real uppity and asking questions we as viewers ask? Why is it only about our 12 and their clicque? Why didn't Hurley loose weight?

and on and on

I think that was a subtle message from the prodcers saying get off our backs, you'll find out when we want you to. But that's just me.

Re: LOST

A second hatch? Can I get an episode reference on that one please? I think I would have remebered that.

I was pretty sure they were setting Arzt up to be fodder or for an evil heel turn, but I did not expect his death when it happened, whoa, lol. I was shocked. Didn't you think he was overreacting?

Quote:
Walt is clearly "touched" from what I can tell. The other's wanted him. I think they went after Aaron and Alex mistakenly. Walt has visions and manifestations. Hell, I'd want the kid too.

Hmm, that's not what I believe. Alex, Rousseau's child, was taken from her ~16 years ago and never returned. Walt wasn't even born yet. These guys take children, period. They took claire for her baby, but I think Claire escaped. They did come back for her to finish off the job, did they not? They even killed one of the crew members while they all slept. Claire has flashbacks of Rousseau and there appears to be a struggle. They try to make Rousseau look bad here, but I think it was actually her that saved claire. C'mon, they didn't release her themselves, how did she get away? I think Claire will remember that Rousseau actually saved her life next season. As for Walt, I have a hard time believing he is any more "touched" than anyone else on the island, though the producers are pushing us in that direction.

Boone dying. That was upsetting. I was just starting to really like him. I would not be surprized if he walked back into camp one day, lol. Don't count him out. His death was weird though. I don't believe that Locke chickened out and was faking his spontaneous injury that compelled Boone to climb up to the plane. Whatever gave locke use of his legs, took it away in that episode for a reason. Was it to kill Boone? Dunno. But what did happen, is the plane crashed to the ground, where Locke found a very large stash of heroine. The island wanted that to happen. Contact was also briefly made with other survivors, maybe that was the purpose. Did the island reveal the heroine as a test for charlie? Boone died performing a selfless act, did he ascend to heaven for it, while everyone else awaits their own special test? Nah.

Theres enough sec isn't there? The Jack, Kate, Sawyer triangle, that ties them up and sex is bound to happen there. Sun and Jin are together, more or less, though Mike is after Sun. Hurley is out of luck for now. Charlie loves Claire and they were hitting it off, till she lost her memory and they have to start over. Sayid is gettin his. There really are not many main characters not involved with someone, Locke is the only person that comes to mind. All of the main women are already attached to a man or 2. Less sex, more plot!

Now the shield is over until 2006.... I'm hurting. There are fewer and fewer shows on TV right now to watch. Luckily Rescue Me and Battlestar are back soon.

Re: LOST

I think you confuse sex with "love interest".There has not been sex on the island that they have shown...YET!

Re: LOST

You know why there are only about 12 main characters on the show and you almost never see all the other passengers? It's because they are busy having sex. lol

Re: LOST

Wow... you all are far more into this show than I thought I was! I do love it (although Wednesday night classes and no TiVo...sniff...had made me miss a few crucial episodes) and my original theory was that it was in the Bermuda triangle. However, my husband scolded me and told me that it would be impossible for them to be there based on where there flight was going. Oh well, on to the next theory:

purgatory. Although I cant see what that sweet sweet Dr Sexy could have done to not get into heaven (except star on Party of Five). Tee hee.

The little boy getting taken really freaked me out and I hated that it ended that way. What a pissah. I liked him too. He was like a 50 year old trapped in a 9 year olds body. Atttitude to spare! He'll be back though. I shudder to think what those men are doing to him. Yeesh.

I highly recommend House. Awesome show and witty as all get-out. It is playing in re-runs now, so now is your chance to catch up before next season!

Seacrest... OUT.

Stacy T

Re: LOST

Good call Stacy. I forgot to recommend House. Slow starting show, but it drew a monster crowd with the American Idol lead in. I also strongly recommend this one. It gets the "Second best new show of the season" award.

Hey, Bermuda Triangle isn't a bad theory. Aside from the flight being in the pacific. But that whole Land of the Lost, journey to the center of the earth, Bermuda Triangle thing is somewhat viable.

Re: LOST

Producers nixed the Bermuda Triangle & Purgetory theories.

House is the shiznat.

Re: LOST

My husband and I have wanted to get into this show, but because we missed so much of it we decided to wait until the first season comes out on DVD and then we'll get it from Netflix. I think House is on during SVU? (...mmmm...Christopher Meloni....)Which we watch religiously. Either that or it conflicts with NCIS...which Kevin watches religiously....

Re: LOST

Everyone with a DVR let me hear you say

HELL YAH!

I record House when I can't watch it and then usually try to get up early and watch before work. Takes less time too because you can speed through to commercials.

This also comes in handy for watching LOST. Then when people say "did you see the part when..." I can go back again.

And Christopher Meloni... I don't watch L&O or whatever it is but he was nasty (in a fabulous way) on OZ. Not to mention he looks amazing naked. Full frontal on HBO baby.

Re: LOST

Oh yah! His body does rock! Every time I watch SVU I say "I've seen you naked" haha!! Yah I need a life!

Re: LOST

Which season of Oz????!!!!

I'll have to get it from netflix. THat man is beautiful... :) He's on my celebrity list (...if you remember that Friends episode)

Re: LOST

Yup I remember that episode. I am not sure which season of Oz...Sorry

Re: LOST

lol, I don't know who he is but you guys are hilarious! I love it. i'll go look him up.

Re: LOST

um ya i know who he is. a little more than i would like to now. Here is a site for you girls.

http://www.acropolisvideo.com/menofoz/

Re: LOST

Ummmm, ew. That man is hot? I had never heard of this Meloni guy, but now that I have seen the pics I am wondering what the fuss is about. I am sorry, but he has NOTHING on Dr. Gregory House. Now THAT is hot. The unattainable is so sexy. LOL.

And can I just say how sad it is that Tom Cruise is marrying a woman our age!!!! WE HAD A CHANCE LADIES!!!! LMAO.

Out.

Stacy

Re: LOST

Um...gee...thanks George! Now I guess I don't have to rent it! LMAO. Not the best pics I've seen of him...but definitely the most revealing! Thanks for thinking of us girls. :)

I still think he's quite hot!!!

Re: LOST

notice Luke Perry is in there too? I only seen the show once or twice. weren't those guys all having sex with each othere in there?

Re: LOST

I didn't even see that...I just kind of looked at CM and moved along.... Although Luke Perry was a crush when I was 13 LOL!

I'm assuming that since it was a prison show that there was some sex involved...but I never watched it.

Re: LOST

And back to the loving place.

Speaking of that dick palace, notice our very own Michael from LOST is there as well? Yup, he was the narrator for OZ.

Can we focus here? How funny though.

Re: LOST

lol @ dick palace!

Re: LOST

TOMM NIGHT!!!! YEAH BABY!!!!!!!!!

Re: LOST

I know!!! I am sooo excited!!!

Re: LOST

They are all clones and don't even know it. The OTHERS are the old true versions of themselves. Desmond "collected" them all hence his comment "see you in the next life" and offering Jack some water; obviously to collect his DNA.

Walt was talking backwards when Shannon saw him. He said don't touch the button the button is bad.

Sarah killed Shannon's father in her accident. RUTHERFORD

Hurley was reciting the numbers as Desmond typed them into the computer "4 space 5 space...".

Sawyer, Michael and Jin are going to wash ashore where the survivors from the back of the plane are camping out.

Re: LOST

Geesh Greta! You really got this show figured out! LOL! You make very good points! Did you read this information somewhere or are these your own thoughts?

Re: LOST

My thoughs, and I actually have a ton more but didn't want to look like a lunatic!

Re: LOST

Ok, i didn't go that far into my thoughts. Only that Desmond has met all the castaways and when he did a "miracle" happened. Because of that they "owed" him.

Just my thoughts.

Oh is Sarah Jack's future wife? Was that maybe the "miracle" Desmond gave him?

Re: LOST

I was lost without lost last night

Re: LOST

LOST sucks this season. I am going to give it 1 more episode and if it doesn't knock my socks off, then I'm done.

But how about that Invasion? Pretty good indeed.

Re: LOST

i was thinking the same thing after the second episode...when they played "lets repeat the opening show...and play fill in the blanks..." after they played an encore of the season opener...

Re: LOST

I like it a lot still. A little predictible with the French Ladies daughter thrown into the pit. But I still like it.

Re: LOST

george what the flip are you talking about? that's not her daughter. that's jack's chick from the airport.

Re: LOST

Yah I was gonna post about her being from the plane not the ladies daughter...George had me confused!!

Re: LOST

OK I confused some and you guys confused me. I knew she looked familiar but I thought it was only because i had seen her on a different show at one point.

I thought she was the one who was on the boat that took Walt. My bad. Ok so help me. I forget all about her. I guess I will have to rework my whole theory.

Sorry about the confusion!

Re: LOST

I finally was able to watch all 4 Tivoed episodes of Season 2. Awesome stuff. I'm caught up now and can read this thread.

I can't believe there are people not enjoying this. And I can't believe that someone said that Invasion is pretty good though. Compare the first 2 episodes of Lost to Invasion, lol. I'm interested in the first 4 episodes of Surface I have yet to watch. Good buzz about that one. If you don't think Lost is one of the top 3 shows on TV, you're crazy. Why would you give up on this show? lol.

Anyway. Lost rocks this season. I like how they revealed the whole premise for the show now. The whole Dharma Industries thing is great. We know that 2 of the 6 experiment centers have been found by the survivors. We still don't know the exact purposes of any of the 6. But we know what all 6 initiatives were for.

You guys recognize the big black dude on the other side of the island? Good ol' Adobese from OZ, the baddest of the bad guys.

So what killed off all the other survivors? We going to get a taste of "the sickness" now? Maybe more of "the others".

My speculation.... In the orientation video, they show a brief glimpse of an old man in a window. Remember that? That's going to be the "benefector" the guy that paid for this island and all these crazy experiments. Note that one of the initiatives, the cryogenic one, is called an imperative. The old man is sick or getting really old, he wants to live forever, no matter what. He's probably frozen on the island or something.

Here is what was mentioned on the video.

The Hanso Life-Extension Project
The Hanso Foundation Electromagnetic Research Initiative
The Hanso Quest for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence
The Hanso Mathematical Forecasting Initiative
The Hanso Cryogenics Development Imperative
The Hanso Juxtapositional Eugenics Development Institute
The Hanso Accelerated Remote Viewing Training Facility

All kinds of crazy plot twists to come from all that.

Walt's abilities. They so experimented on him in the past,
Locke's being able to walk again...and subsequent temporary loss of leg power....tough one, I have to go nanotech on this one.
Mathmatical forcasting...the numbers.

I can't wait for 50 more episodes, lol

Re: LOST

Do you take notes, fast forward, and rewind or what? I can't remember all that crap. LOL

I love this show. It has changed a bit. Some for the good. (More characters) and some for the bad. (Jack's attitude)

Re: LOST

Yeah, I don't really like Jack's attitude either. I guess they are really exaggerating it to set his science against Locke's faith. And we're the losers. lol

Sometimes I'll rewatch sections and relisten to dialogue with the Tivo, thats about it. I just love the show.

I'm concerned about too many characters though. They just gave us Desmond, Anna-Lucia, Bernard and Adobese, maybe even that other blond girl and they brought Rose back. We didnt have enough time as it was to spend with the cast they already had. So....let's kill some people off. There's only 42 minutes per episode, hah.

I've seen the best work of science fiction (Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time Series) fall to pieces becuase he made too many characters and about 8000 pages into the story, he just lost control and couldn't reign it in, let's hope that doesn't happen here too.

Re: LOST

Anybody need a fix with all the repeats?

Check this out, and turn on your speakers.

http://www.collegehumor.com/movies/1618980/

and oh yah, Shannon dies...................

Re: LOST

That was pretty col Greta. I have seen a smalle clip of that before. Do you know why that was made? Was it supposed to be part of the 1st show?

And why do you say Shannon dies?

Re: LOST

I say she dies because she dies. LOL, just a feeling. Although it would be nice if Ana Lucia died and not Shannon. Of of the other girls is going to become a "monster" and kill one of our main Lost females. I think it's Shannon.

That is the UK promo video.

Re: LOST

A feeling my foot. I hear it was all over the internet and in magazines.

But am still not convinced it's her. Where did that one chick disapear to? Maybe she's the dead one and maybe the "Lost People" put this rumor out there.

Ya never know.

So where did you read it?

Re: LOST

I heard on a program this past week that an interview was done with the executive producers of Lost and he stated that there is no meaning behind the series of numbers and that they will never be explained in the show. :x I found a link to the interview. They discuss other aspects of the show as well. Enjoy! http://www.darkhorizons.com/news05/051117a.php
