Now I know this can't be specific to the IT industry, but I'd like to see how many different variations there are of this phenomenon.
A wise Windows admin once posted a sign in his cubical that said
"Poor planning on your part does constitute an emergency on mine"
Whenever a customer who has known about a project for weeks calls me up to let me know about it less than 24 hours before it's due, I think of these words and say to myself "can it be that somehow Karma has brought this moron and that there's someone out there to whom I should apologize?"
So c'mon guys. Let's hear it. when in your job does the poor planning on the part of your customers suddenly constitute an emergency on yours?

3 words, Lawrence Public Schools evil
Everything sent from Central Office is thrown at you at the last minute and due yesterday, but don't stop teaching to do it. Sadly, they are not customers that you can refuse to service.
